Wp_timer update

I thought I’d outline my plans for wp_timer.

Firstly just after I published it I realised I had been an idiot and it was making database calls that it didn’t need to. So that will be the first major fix. Another issue is that when the plugin gets deactivated it deletes data it uses to work out it’s time. I plan to change this, but as the old plugin will be deactivated before gte new version gets installed users will not see the benefit of this just immediately.

The rest of the update will be a new feature. I want the plugin to log when it gets reset so that blog admin will be able to see the history.

These are the plans for the next release, I have more but will save those for I time when I can implement then better.

Update

I know it’s been ages since I posted anything here. I’ve been busy. I finished my CCNA, I am about to move in with my partner, I plan to update the wp_timer plugin, I have a new php project I’m working on and a new Android phone to play with so I may even have a proper attempt at programming in java with the view to trying to build an Android app.

WP_timer now on wordpress directory

My first Wordpress plugin is now listed on the Wordpress directory. The latest version can be downloaded from the Wordpress directory

WP_timer

Today I have finished my first Wordpress plugin, it’s not much and didn’t take all that long to create. It was doen more as a learning excercise that for anything else. but i thought i’d release it to the public.

It is a small counter that simply keeps track of how long it has been since it was last reset. the main twist is that anyone can reset it. I got the idea from XKCD.

If anyone wishes to use it on their site please feel free as it is being released under the GNU General Public Licence. It can be downloaded from the link below, and hopefully soon it will be listed in the Wordpress plugin directory.

Ping batch script

While working I sometimes come accross a time when I need to run a ping accross the network and leave to running while I do something else, but I need to be able to check the result of the ping for lost packets. This led me to write this script. It will ping a address that you specify and log the result into a text file. It also logs the date and time of the result.

Please click the link below to dowload the script

New Look

If you’ve been to the site before you’ll notice that it looks a little different. Thats because I felt the previous layout looked a little lacking, and also I wanted to include the wonderful new banner that I’ve had done.

It was created by a friend of mine who has a natural talent for amazing looking artwork. please check her site at bextur.co.uk to see more of her art and ideas.
